Stability of Thyroid Function Test Analytes Whose Serum Levels Are Determined by Immunoassay
نویسندگان
چکیده
We have performed stability studies on thyroid function tests, i.e., T4, T3, free T3 and stimulating hormone (TSH), over a five-day period the sera of ten patients. find that levels for each analyte were stable; mean coefficients variation (CV) ranged from 3.2 % TSH to 8.7% T4. ANOVA statistical analysis group means indicated there was no statistically significant difference in these means, confirming reproducibility values. On other hand, CVs are significantly larger than those found our prior critical analytes such as electrolytes (sodium, potassium, chloride, calcium). In addition, variations values occurred T4 which showed largest five studied. one patient, low <10 ug/dL 14 period. A two-tailed t test comparing CV with four lower indicating assay yield most precise results. These results parallel obtained electrolyte study very sodium, potassium chloride higher calcium. Since approximately half total serum calcium is bound albumin since high percentages (≥99%) binding globulin albumin, protein may introduce possible source imprecision.

Neuronal acetylcholinesterase levels in cerebrospinal fluid and serum determined by a specific and sensitive immunoassay.
Acetylcholinesterase levels were determined in cerebrospinal fluid and serum of 272 patients with various neurological disorders. The patients were ordered in 13 diagnostic groups. The assay employed was an antigen capture assay based on an immobilized monoclonal antibody selective for neuronal acetylcholinesterase (Rasmussen et al., Clin. Chim. Acta 166 (1987) 17-25 (1)). In 100% of the cases ...
متن کاملRelationship between Anti-Thyroid Peroxidase Antibody and Thyroid Function Test
Background: Anti-thyroid peroxidase antibody (anti-TPO antibody) is a member of thyroid autoantibodies which are important in inducing and also diagnosing autoimmune thyroid diseases. Thyroid autoimmunity can cause several forms of thyroiditis and abnormal thyroid functions, ranging from hypothyroidism to hyperthyroidism. Objective: To evaluate the relationship between serum levels of anti-TPO ...
متن کامل[Influence of thyroid function in CPK serum levels].
OBJECTIVE To determine serum CPK variation based on TSH e free T4 (FT4), and to assess serum CPK in pathological states of the thyroid (hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism), in relation to the euthyroidism. MATERIAL AND METHODS We evaluated retrospectively 6,230 laboratory results of TSH and CPK from 2007 to 2011. From these, 3,369 had free T4 results. We evaluated the correlation between CPK ...
متن کاملPhosphodiesterase 8B gene variants are associated with serum TSH levels and thyroid function.
Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) controls thyroid growth and hormone secretion through binding to its G protein-coupled receptor (TSHR) and production of cyclic AMP (cAMP). Serum TSH is a sensitive indicator of thyroid function, and overt abnormalities in thyroid function lead to common endocrine disorders affecting approximately 10% of individuals over a life span. By genotyping 362,129 SNPs ...
متن کاملSERUM LEVELS OF PROLACTIN, THYROTROPIN. THYROID HORMONES, TRH RESPONSIVENESS, AND MALE REPRODUCTIVE FUNCTION IN INTERMITTENT ISLAMIC FASTING
During the Islamic lunar month of Ramadan millions of Muslims abstain from drinking and eating from dawn to sunset. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of intermittent Islamic fasting on reproductive function, hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid axis and the peripheral metabolism of thyroid hormones in men. We measured serum levels of FSH. LH, testosterone, prolactin, FSH, T4...
